About Us

The Jallow Foundation, The Gambia, A Charity Set Up To Relieve Poverty, Help, Provide, Train, Educate, Provide Employment, Empower and Provide Essential Facilities and Equipment To Those In Need

We are a Charitable Non-Profit Organisation set up in 2010 to try and help people particularly, but not exclusively in the Jarra West District, a large area in the provinces of The Gambia.

We try to work hand in hand with local people and organisations to find the best ways to help those in most need. A bag of rice for a family that has no food is a quick fix and only a very short term solution, so our aim is to provide longer term solutions by the provision of training, skills, tools and much, much more, thus enabling those in need to be able to provide for themselves and their families all year round. Enabling people to start their own business, improving living conditions, providing employment, transport, better health care, communities working together for the benefit of the majority and not just a minority. People develop confidence and with that comes self respect and a desire to pass on what they have been taught to others.

Everyone we help lives in extreme poverty despite every effort on their part. Our help can make a huge difference in so many ways, restoring hope, enabling families to be fed, children to be sent to school, medicine to be obtained and people to be better informed and self sufficient.

The Founders of the Charity are Kebba and Naomi Jallow. Kebba was born in one of the small villages in the provinces but was one of the lucky ones whose parents managed to struggle to send him to school. As a result Kebba now has a better life and wants to help as many other fellow Gambians who are not so lucky as he was. He knows from first hand experience how difficult life is for so many, many, people in The Gambia, particularly in the provinces and the desperate poverty and massive need there is for help in all aspects of Gambian life.

Naomi Jallow has spent most of her life as a lawyer in the UK but spent two years on and off living in The Gambia and has first hand experience of the poverty and desperate need of the majority of the Gambian people. Naomi is the Charities UK Operations Manager whilst Kebba is the UK Assistant Operations Manager, both are Trustees together with Ebrima Jallow who is the 'man on the ground' so to speak and the Charities Operations Manager in The Gambia. Ebrima is highly qualified, having worked in the past for other charities in The Gambia. Together and with our band of helpers, our aim is to make a positive and as big a difference as possible, for as many people as possible.
